Mangal dosha — being manglik — causes more proposals to collapse than any other single finding, and a large share of the charts carrying the label do not actually qualify.
The dosha arises from Mars occupying particular houses counted from the ascendant, and the disagreement starts immediately: some traditions count from the Moon as well, some from Venus, and the houses included vary by region. A chart declared manglik in one part of the country is frequently not manglik in another, using the same birth data.
Then come the cancellations, which are numerous and commonly met. Mars in its own sign or exalted, Mars aspected by Jupiter, both parties carrying the dosha, and the effect reducing substantially with age are all recognised. Applied properly, the number of charts left carrying a serious mangal dosha is a fraction of the number carrying the label.
What gets done to young women on the strength of this — years of refused proposals, expensive corrective rituals, marriage to a tree — deserves more scepticism than it usually receives.

When scores disagree
When Two Astrologers Give Different Scores
Families frequently arrive with two matching reports that disagree, sometimes by ten points or more, and conclude that one astrologer must be incompetent. Usually neither is.
The commonest cause is the birth time. Guna milan runs off the Moon's nakshatra, and the Moon moves through roughly one nakshatra a day — so a birth time wrong by a few hours can shift the nakshatra and with it most of the eight tests. Where a report was calculated from a remembered time and another from a hospital record, they will differ.
The second cause is the ayanamsa — the correction applied for precession. Lahiri is standard in India but not universal, and a different setting moves positions by a degree or more, which is enough to change a nakshatra at the boundary.
The third is simply that one was generated by software and the other interpreted. Software applies one rule set without testing cancellations, which is how a report arrives naming three doshas that a practitioner would set aside.
The way to resolve it is to compare the inputs rather than the conclusions. If both reports used the same time and the same ayanamsa and still disagree, that is worth asking about.
