What Gets Read, and In What Order
A relationship reading begins with the ascendant, because it fixes which house is which, and an error there invalidates everything after it. Then the fifth house for attraction and romance, the seventh for partnership as an arrangement, and the twelfth where separation and distance show.
Venus and Mars are examined for how affection and conflict are expressed. Only then are the running dasha periods brought in, which is where the timing comes from.

Why the Order Matters

What it produces is a description of your own pattern and a set of periods. That is less exciting and considerably more useful, and it is checkable: applied backwards, it should explain relationships you have already had.
