Personal Guidance, Thoughtfully Explained
Understanding Your Concern
Parents consult about this far more often than teenagers do, usually worried about studies, about a match they have not met, or about a child who has stopped talking to them. Both sides of that are worth taking seriously, and neither is well served by alarm.
What Parents Usually Want to Know
The questions that arrive are whether this will damage the examination years, whether the attachment is serious, and whether something should be done about it. A chart speaks usefully to the first and third, and barely at all to the second.
What it can show is whether the coming period genuinely supports academic effort, and where a young person's attention is structurally inclined to go. That is more useful than a prediction about a relationship that may last three months.
- Whether the coming years support sustained academic effort
- Where a young person's attention naturally inclines
- Whether a period of difficulty at home is passing or settling
- What intervention is likely to achieve, and what it is likely to cost
What Is Not Appropriate Here
No remedy is offered to separate two young people, and none is offered to bind them together. Both requests arrive, and both are declined, because neither is something a chart supports and both do harm in a family.
Where a young person is in genuine difficulty — withdrawn, not eating, not sleeping — that needs a doctor or a counsellor, not an astrologer, and will be said plainly.
- No remedy to separate or to bind two young people
- Nothing said that would set a parent against a child
- Signs of real distress referred to a doctor or counsellor
- Consultations with a young person held with a parent's knowledge

How Your Consultation Works
- 1
Hear the Actual Concern
What has changed at home, over what period, and what has already been tried, before any chart is discussed.
- 2
Read the Study Periods
The chart is examined for how the coming academic years are placed, which is usually the concern underneath the question.
- 3
Say What Is Worth Doing
Often the answer is that the period will pass and pressing it will cost more than waiting. Where that is the answer, it is given.
